Referrals
You do not need a referral to see a psychologist. If you would like to claim a Medicare rebate you will need a referral under a Mental Health Treatment Plan from a GP, or a referral letter from a psychiatrist or paediatrician.

Individual Therapy
Cathryn and Viviana both work with individual clients including children, adolescents and adults.
A thorough assessment is completed initially before working collaboratively with you to develop a treatment plan using evidence based therapy to work towards achieving your therapy goals.
Supervision
Cathryn and Viviana are both board approved supervisors. They are available to provide supervision towards AHPRA registration or as an ongoing peer support and professional development.
Couples Counselling
Viviana will accept referrals for couples counselling. She draws from Gottman principles when working with couples.
Viviana will assess the issues and collaborately work with the couple to achieve their goals.
Workers Compensation & Motor vehicle insurance work.
Viviana has worked with Workers Compensation and Motor Vehicle Insurance clients and prepares reports for insurers and doctors. The goal of workers compensation is to identify their current functioning as a result of the accident and provide the client with appropriate therapy based on their presenting needs.

FAQs
How long are the sessions and how many sessions will I need to attend?
Sessions are 50 minutes in duration. The number and frequency of sessions is dependent upon a number of factors including the severity of the issue, whether there are concurrent issues and how ready and willing you are to engage in therapy. All of this will be discussed with you during your sessions. It is usually a good idea to give yourself a few sessions to 'settle in' with a therapist.
Where are you located and do I have to pay for parking?
We are located at Suite 11 / 5 Colin Street, West Perth. Just on the edge of Kings Park in the charming 100 year old Amity building. There are private waiting room and toilet facilities in the suite. There is paid street parking directly in front of the building on Colin street and on Colin Grove Street. If you have time for a short walk, then free parking is available near by at Kings Park.
What happens during my first session? Do I need to bring anything?
During your first session we will spend time discussing your current problems and we will ask you some questions about your past issues and family supports. It is quite common for people to be emotional during an initial session as feelings about your presenting problems can be raw at this time. It might be advisable to plan your appointment time so you are not going to work or an important event immediately afterwards. Please bring your GP referral and mental health care plan with you if you are wanting to claim the medicare rebate.
What happens if I need to reschedule or cancel my appointment?
We require 48 hours notice if you are unable to attend a scheduled appointment, which allows us enough time to offer your appointment to other clients.
Therapy sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will attract a late notice fee equivalent to the full session fee, and sessions cancelled with 24-48 hours notice will attract a late notice fee of 50% of the full session fee. If we are able to fill the appointment with another booking, you will not be charged. Late notice fees will only be waived in the case of a medical emergency.
Can I claim a rebate from my private health insurance fund?
Many private health insurance funds provide a rebate for services provided by psychologists. We encourage you to contact your health insurer prior to your appointment to find out whether your policy covers services provided by the practitioner you are scheduled to meet with.
Can I claim a rebate from Medicare?
We are registered Medicare providers. Clients with an eligible Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) referral from their GP or a referral letter from their psychiatrist can claim a rebate for a maximum of 10 sessions per calendar year (from 1 January 2024). Medicare rebates for psychology services are provided in sets of up to 6 sessions and a new GP referral letter is required for each set of sessions. Rebates apply for services provided in-person at our office and also via Telehealth (online or by phone).
Do I need a referral from my doctor?
No, you do not need a referral in order to attend counselling at our practice. However, you will be unable to claim any Medicare rebate without a Medicare eligible Mental Health Treatment Plan referral from your doctor.
